Roy and Doris, the Founder and Trainer of Chiefglen
The Chiefglen search team. Chiefglen currently have 10 passive search dogs.

The Chiefglen search team specializes in explosives, drugs and search work by using specially trained and passive search dogs.

All of the Chiefglen dogs and their handlers are trained to search all different types of complexes from office buildings, containing complex equipment and computers to warehouses containing freight. The training also extends to vehicles, shipping, aircraft, terminals and luggage.

All dogs and their handlers are trained using real explosives. Chiefglen is one of the few private organizations to hold an explosives license for this type of training.

All the dogs and their handlers are trained to find small and large amounts of explosives and the chemical components used in the manufacturing process.

The Chiefglen search dogs are trained to work on and off the leash, the reason for this is the need to carry out complex controlled searches and gives the handler total control of the dogs actions and movements at all times.

So that a professional service is provided at all times the dogs and their handlers receive constant continuation of their training.

At Chiefglen we are proud to have a consultant who has an M.B.E in terrorism and explosives, he is a great asset to the team and ensures that our team of dog handlers are well briefed before any work is undertaken, this is to insure a full and professional service is provided at all times.

Training 1 Springer Spaniel and 2 Belgian Malinois

All dog training is play orientated and fun.

Chiefglen dogs progress on to be passive search dogs.

When training a dog for search it is important that both dog and handler are aware of the area to be searched. Our training provides teaching the dog to be quiet, no contact on find, but to train the dog to sit down or stand.

For safety reasons it is important that the handler be trained in phases 1 and 2.

At ChiefGlen we hold a licence for both drugs and explosives, and are able to supply dogs and handlers for explosives search in pro-active and passive work.

All handlers and dogs receive continuation training with real explosives.
